This One Time at Band Camp....

Syncing Up with Spathose

Well as promised I am posting! So much has happened in the past two years that I don't think you want me listing out all that has transpired! Boring! But you can hop over to our website to the NEWS page to check out for yourself what we have been up to in this hiatus! Let me know what you think of the format while your'e at it too!

The one thing that I will point out that is happening now is the promotion that we are doing for our Tag necklace redesign. It's a promotion on Facebook titled Redesigning Fabulous that offers our new tags at the old price...there is some work involved on your part but its fun and you are already selfie-ing your self all over the web anyway!
So please take a look at our site and let me know what you think, I really would appreciate your thoughts...and speaking of that, I plan on using this blog not only to update what is going on with Spathose but to highlight articles and stories that works with our brand. Of course sustainability is high on the list and of course new innovations in design...any other topics you would like us to discuss?

Thanks for stopping by and look forward to all your comments!

We Are Back!

Hopefully you weren't holding your breath for a new post....

It has been a while since I last wrote anything. Almost 2 years! Learned quite a bit about Social Media in that time and plan to be more consistent. Most likely will post just once a week, probably on a Wednesday( just an arbitrary day), and perhaps a bit more depending on any breaking news. We have had a lot of that in the past 2 years and will squeak out some extra posts to catch you all up to date.
So until next Wednesday April 29th...I'll just leave you with the biggest bit of news we have had recently in the form of an image...We went National baby!
We made the cover of the re-branding of The Craft"s Report to Handmade Business!
(I'm already exhausted!)

We are working with the Museum of Fine Arts Saint Petersburg to put up an event this February 5, 2013. The event centers on a lecture from Dr. Robert Bianchi, currently chief curator of the Fondation Gandur pour l’Art/Genève, and here is his abstract from his lecture:
This fully-illustrated Valentine’s Day lecture presents aspects of Greek erotic representation by introducing the cult of Aphrodite and suggesting the ways in which the Cnidian Aphrodite by Praxiteles in the fourth century BC revolutionized the depiction of the goddess of love. That introduction enables one to map Greek visual approaches to the unclothed male and female body. Special attention is then paid to selected representations on Greek vases, the erotic themes of which range from the playfully suggestive to the graphic. The lecture concludes with a survey of erotic representations created during the Hellenistic Period.

The objective of the evening is to share knowledge in a fun and exciting way, while bring new people to the museum that might not ordinarily attend such lectures! Sounds like a daunting task!
Well let me tell you, with a little creativity, a collaboration of eclectic minds, and a team of professionals willing to volunteer their time and energy, its not as hard as you think! Over the next few weeks I will be relaying how we set up this event, what it takes to work with a nonprofit, and how to keep oneself on track! I’ll discuss the importance of brainstorming, the essential need for professionalism, and the ability to fly by the seat of your pants!
Until then please check out the event page on face book:

Why did I start blogging? Certainly not for money…although it amazes me how many bloggers do it for revenue flow. You go to their sites and it is loaded with ads. True there is content…but all those ads!  These sites look like, well, like business websites. Sell, sell, sell, shopping carts, ads, flash (God I hate flash) and somewhere under all the glitz and bling is the information that you placed in your search engine. Now I am not being holier than thou, but I remember when blogging was about sharing thoughts, insights, expressing ideas, having a voice…. just feeling like being heard. Maybe I am aging myself (what kinda hell is this when you can age yourself talking about the internet!) but I enjoyed reading about what others had to say about a topic. It helped me to expand my mind or at least solidify my original stance on a subject. Believe me my goals for blogging are not so lofty, I simply want to express myself and share my thoughts on the things that I like. If someone along the way finds this of interest, then great, at least I feel as though I have a voice…that I am being heard.

Today would have been my Grandmother’s 93rd birthday, she past away this Thanksgiving. The life she led was a wonderfully ordinary, surrounded by family and friends who loved her. She had a simple life, yet was always grateful for everything and everyone that touched her existence. I want to follow in her footsteps and fill my life with gratitude and joy. We all should! That is my simple message; a message that I will carry with me for always. Let’s all be grateful for what we have, because sometimes we forget that we always have something to be grateful for and to give thanks. No matter how small or insignificant it may seem at the time, its joy and gratitude that will make our lives better. So I thank you all that have touch my life and brought me to this place in my wondrous journey. I AM GRATEFUL
